Senator Edd Houck:
Preserving Our Quality of Life
As State Senator, Edd Houck has fought to preserve our
quality of life by improving our schools, reducing traffic
congestion and sprawl, and protecting agricultural,
natural and historic resources. He has been a leading
advocate for increased access to affordable health care
and tax relief for middle class families.
During his 34 years of service as a working educator in
our region, Sen. Houck was always there to support
thousands of children and their families. Now, we need
to keep his experience and common sense continuing
to work for us to achieve results at the State Capitol.
Senator Edd Houck’s Record of Accomplishment:
- Large education funding increases resulting in lower class sizes, higher teacher salaries and support for cooperative extension programs
- Establishing crisis plans that prevent school violence
- Substantial additional dollars for road and mass transit improvements to ease traffic congestion
- Holding HMO’s accountable for harmful medical decisions
- Repealing the food tax and death tax and allowing localities more authority to cut real estate taxes
- Criminal background checks for day care center workers & notifying the neighborhood when a sex offender moves in
- Creating a dangerous dog registry and establishing stiff penalties for owners whose dogs kill or injure people
